A DOC 4 U AND ME

Hope everyone is doing well. We have had some spring-like weather here in upstate New York which is wonderful. Lady Linda and I celebrated our 18^th wedding anniversary on March 19^th and did one of our favorite things – we went out to dinner.

Now for this week’s story:

Did you ever read a legal contract? If you have, then you know that legal contracts are written with so much double talk that it takes someone in the legal field to read and understand it.

However, this does not have to be the case. A legal contract can be written as simple or as confusingly complicated as the writer wants to write the contract. I know this from personal experiences I have had dealing with companies who wanted to license some of my inventions.

For instance, I was dealing with a multi-national corporation who wanted a toy I invented. They gave me a contract to sign so they could legally license my toy. There was so much double and triple talk that it was ridiculous. As confusing as the contract was, the way I read it, I was sure it was a bad contract. But, how was I, a lay person who could not afford a patent lawyer, supposed to know for sure.

I was blessed. My mother was one of the top patent paralegals for Davis, Hoxie, Faithfull, & Hapgood, 45 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10111. At the time she worked for them, this firm was one of the largest legal patent firms in the world. She was so good at her job that the lawyers she worked with would not go into court without her. If she could not be there, the lawyers would postpone the court proceedings until she could be there.

This meant that all I had to do was to have her read the contract and advise me. I told her what I thought this mumbo jumbo of a contract said and then asked her if I was right. She then told me I was reading through all the confusion correctly. The contract this company was trying to get me to sign was terrible.

I then asked her if I wrote a contract would she read it and tell me whether I had covered everything I needed to cover. So, I started writing my own contracts. My contracts were written in everyday language. No confusing double talk BS. My mother looked at the contracts I was writing. She never once changed even one word. She always told me my contract said exactly what the corporate confusing contract said with the exception of the part I wanted changed.

The corporation read one contract after another that I had written. They would then write another confusing corporate BS contract and send it to me to sign. They always told me I was reading their contracts wrong. They did not know about my mother. They thought I was working with no legal help.

I informed them that their confusing contract was not going to work because there was only one line in every contract they sent me that mattered. In every contract somewhere in it they wrote we (the corporation) will give me (Neal G. Brownell) .50 cents a unit for as long as they feel like giving me .50 cents a unit. They wrote this in every conceivable confusing legal jargon way possible.

I never did get a viable contract from them and I finally walked away.

This brings me to the point of this blog.

I find it interesting anytime I see someone talking about our U.S. Constitution on a news program or some place else. The host will often say we have an expert on the Constitution. This expert is here to tell you what the Constitution says.

What the hell are they talking about? You and I do not need anyone to tell us what the Constitution says. Our founding fathers and mothers (I don’t believe for one second the women had no influence on the direction in which our founding fathers moved) know that lawyers would try and use the legal double talk to try and convince the people the Constitution says something it does not say.

Right now some members of the Onteora NY School Board are upset with me because they don’t like the way I say what I say. They have tried to take a vote several times to censor me. (Here is the link to the video that some members of the school board tried to censor me over – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Qt2mpyAFzU&t=1s It was pretty clear to me that they were saying had I said what I said in the way they wanted me to say it, then it would be ok. This is a lie. I know it’s a lie because on a previous occasion when they tried to censor me, they took a vote after a 3 minute speech in which I was calm and mild-mannered as a person can be and one of the School board members said that my speaking had no place at a meeting. He went on to say that if someone is upset with the board then that person should bring it on. The board could handle it.

The fact is some members, not all by any stretch, want to shut me up. Well, I don’t need a constitutional lawyer to tell me the Constitution says I have the right to speak and say it any way I want to say it. The Constitution does not say you have to say it the way the government, in this case the public school board, says I am allowed to say what I say.

The US Government and the corporate propaganda media have tried to tell us the US Constitution is unimportant. O contrare! The Constitution is the single most important contract that has ever been written. It literally says the 1 percent (Government, Corporations, Massively wealthy, and any and all religions) cannot enslave the other 99 percent. The Constitution is the only thing that is keeping us free. The US Constitution was written so simply that the 1 percenters can’t tell the 99 percent what it says. We already know what it says.

You don’t have to know the Constitution word for word, but it is imperative that you know your constitutional rights. Always fight to keep and pass on these rights to the next generation of 99 percenters.

Vote any person in power out of office that is saying the Constitution is unimportant, obsolete, or outdated. Vote any person in power out if they say things like, the Constitution does not give them enough power to help the people. Vote any person in power out that says to another country who is forming a new government not to use the US Constitution as a guide because it is outdated. The above are actual things I have personally heard US Government officials at the highest level say about the US Constitution.

If the people in power had their way, they would have the ability to do anything anytime they wish. However, the Constitution is always getting in their way. They can’t force you to shut up. They can’t force you to not be able to defend yourself. They can’t force you to join any religion. They can’t torture you until you confess. And the list of our freedoms goes on.

Because this document is so simple, learn the basics and teach everyone how important the US Constitution is. This is not you and I against each other. It’s not Republican or Democrat against each other or any other groups that you can think of. It is the people of the United States against an enormously corrupt US Government. Learn your rights. Keep your rights. Stay free my friend.
