Welcome! Lady Linda and I hope that everyone is well and safe, and enjoying some quality time with their family. We’re sending good thoughts to all of you. This week has been strange and wonderful all at the same time. We have a part-time housecleaning business that supplements our Knowledge Is Freedom Publishing business. And like many of our friends and followers, it is an uncertain time. We have been able to get a lot done in regard to working on products for our new gift shop on www.youreamazingandillproveit.com It is a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. We hope soon to be able to have t-shirts, hats, etc. with the book cover printed on them.
Dealing with Hard Times Through an Inventor’s Eyes
Obviously, we’re all going through some really hard times. As Neal – The Crazy Inventor (That is my YouTube channel – check it out) anytime I’m going through hard times, I look back at other hard times to get reference points. These reference points give me ideas on how to deal with the present hard times.
In my lifetime I have had some really hard times. I don’t tell you this for you to feel sorry for me. I tell you this to show you how I dealt with them. One, somehow, some way, find something funny. When my wife, Deb (aka Hunchkybunchky), died, very suddenly, we had her funeral 2 days later. At the get together after the funeral, with tears running down my face and everyone else’s face (Deb was 38 years old, she had collapsed on the floor, and for all intents and purposes she was gone), I looked around at everybody. I said, “We can look on the good side.” Everybody said, “Good side, what could possibly be good about this situation?” I said, “Maybe my next wife will be able to cook.” Find something funny. Whatever you are going through, find something funny.
Number 2 – Do not beat yourself up. There was a time I was talking to a friend of mine, an absolutely wonderful woman, who loves her family and spends a lot of time with them and at the same time works really hard at her job. Her little girl called her from school and told her she wasn’t feeling well and because she was so busy with work, she asked her if it was hindering her ability to learn. Her little girl said no, so she told her she had to stay in school.
The next day she found out that her little girl had strep throat and double ear infections. My friend called me, very upset with herself and I told her do not beat yourself up, there is nothing you can do about the past. Besides that, you couldn’t possibly beat yourself up as much as I have in the past. All that is going to happen is you’re going to go through all this anguish and end up right where you are right now, having to deal with the problem. So, forget the beating up part, just deal with the problem.
And Number 3 – Don’t try to get from here to wherever you’re going in one step. These are difficult times. Put one foot in front of the other. Deal with any problem that comes along as it comes. Just keep moving forward. It will work out.
