Teaching The Game of Life – Learning To Drive

Welcome. As we told you we are changing the name of my book to The Doorway. The sub-title that we are testing is To Finding Your Purpose In Life. Our tech guru Shane is working on the webpage for our special offer. We will be announcing what that special offer is soon. So keep an eye out for the special offer of The Doorway – To Finding Your Purpose In Life.

We also wanted to give a shout out to Elizabeth Miles of March Forth Media Company. I was on her The Power To Pivot podcast in February and she has since become a friend and a mentor. If you need anyone to help you with coaching, marketing, and/or publishing of your book, contact her at www.marchforthmediacompany.com

We would give out Shane’s information also, but at this time we don’t believe he is accepting new clients. If we find out that is he accepting new clients we will let you know.

Now for this week’s story:

One of the things that I have always been able to do is to see value in other people. Because of this when I was a young boy I liked to hang out with older people. I figured that they had wisdom that comes with time and I could save time by learning this wisdom from them. The reason I am writing this blog series, Teaching The Game of Life, is to pass on some of the knowledge I have accumulated during my 62 years to everyone.

Learning to Drive – One of the scariest times in a parent or guardian’s life is when our kids first start to drive. One of the reasons for this is our kids are excited to do something they have never done before. Because they are so young and inexperienced, this excitement of doing something new is exacerbated.

As an inventor and parent, my question was, “how can I make this situation safer for my kids?” The answer I came up with, was to take the excitement out of doing something new by teaching the kids to drive as soon as they were physically big enough. Obviously they had to be able to reach the pedals and see over the steering wheel.

Once they were big enough I would get up early on a Sunday and take them over to the local mall. First, I started them out by driving around the parking lot. As they got better, I had them practice parking between the lines. Eventually, when they were skilled enough, I had them drive around the mall on the access road. The car I used had the emergency brake between the seats so I could stop the car if I needed to.

This worked so well that my daughter now is in her late thirties and has never had an accident. My son has had one accident on icy roads. So, in retrospect, if I had it all to do over again I would have taken the kids to the mall when the lot was icy and given them experience on ice.

If you like this way of teaching a loved one to be a safe responsible driver, please feel free to use the above techniques. You can also forward this message and together we can help our youth become safe responsible drivers.

The Doorway – To Finding Your Purpose In Life

What am I here for? This is one of the most common questions people ask. One of the things that most people don’t understand is that no one sees the world the way you do. This makes your vision of the world unique to you and only you. This means that you are the only one that can bring your special unique gift to the world.

To answer the question what am I here for, all you need to do is find your unique gift and then share it with the world. The next question is where can I find my unique gift and how do I bring it to the world? The answer to these questions are inside The Doorway.
